DISCLAIMER: This posting should not be taken as an endorsement by the staff here at the SCV OK Blog, or by the SCV. This article is an update in the candidate’s own words, to a previous post where his candidacy was announced. We wish Mr. Page the best in his run for Commander of the OK Division!

Two Flags, One Man

Hello, I am Mason K. Page. I was born and raised in New Caney, Texas, but moved to Oklahoma in 2011. For the last about 3 ½ years, I have been in the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and for 2 ½ of those, I have been Camp Commander of the Colonel Dew Moore Wisdom Camp #307 in Muskogee, OK. Now, I know that doesn’t sound like much time compared to some, however, I have made major improvements within my camp, and within Muskogee for our Confederate Heroes, and their final resting places. During 2016, I ran for Brigade Commander of the NE Cherokee Brigade and did not win. However, I refused to allow that to discourage me and my drive. It motivated me to do more, and to do everything I possibly can to better not only my camp and surrounding areas, but I’ve also helped many of my friends and associates join the SCV.

Some of the accomplishments my camp and I have accomplished are many donations to the Muskogee High School History Club, the Battle of Honey Springs State Park, the SCV’s first march in the City of Muskogee Azalea Day Parade, the Oklahoma Division’s First Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, recruitment through booths at city events, and also the improvement of relations between our camp and the Texas Division, LA Division, Arkansas Division, the Texas Order of the Confederate Rose, and also the Oklahoma Order of the Confederate Rose. My main reason for working so closely with these Divisions, and other organizations is because if we do not stand together, we will fall. We must work together with our Division neighbors, other organizations, and the UDC to create a more unified front so that our Confederate History can stay here, and not be erased. That will be one of my main goals if elected Division Commander, to work more closely with other divisions and organizations, and even camps within our own division in order to preserve, protect, and defend our Confederate Heritage, not only here in Oklahoma, but everywhere. I may not be as old, or have as much experience as the other candidates do, but I do have the drive, determination, passion, and energy to accomplish all OUR goals and more. Because together we are stronger. So let’s work together to enter into a new era of leadership, and let’s make Oklahoma the best it can possibly be, and let’s elect a Commander who does not fear change, but embraces it, and prepares for the future; Vote Mason K. Page for Division Commander of Oklahoma, and you will not be disappointed because, “Together, we can make a difference!”. Thank you all for your support, I look forward to possibly being your next Oklahoma Division Commander.

Sincerest Regards,

Commander Mason K. Page

UPDATE: 12/5/2017 – Mr. Page wished to add the following to his post.

Hello my fellow Compatriots.

As you know, I am running for Division Commander. I will not make you extravagant promises and promise you the moon, however, I can promise you that I will put 110% of my effort into this Division to help make it one of the best divisions in the Sons of Confederate Veterans; this includes working many hours with people within the Division and working with other divisions to help coordinate multi-division events in order to help save our heritage. We must work together to save our heritage and in order to fulfill the Charge.

As I have stated before, I am much younger than my fellow compatriots that are running against me, however, I have the drive and determination to get things done. I am ready to carry the torch for our generation in the SCV. It is time we start getting younger people involved in the leadership positions of the SCV, and the older members start mentoring those younger members. I believe that having younger leadership and younger people like myself carrying the torch will help encourage younger people to step in and start leading and recruiting people their age and saying “look what we can do. We can lead.”

It is time for a New Era of Leadership that can do all the things that need to be done in order to make the SCV last, to save our heritage, but also to be able to fulfill the charge to our best efforts. I am running for Division Commander to help launch the Oklahoma Division and the rest of the Sons of Confederate Veterans into an Era of Younger Leadership; with fresh ideas, fresh minds, and the willingness to move forward and not fear change. I will work for the people of the Oklahoma Division, not only as your leader and servant, but also as your friend, and as a mentor to the younger generation coming in.

As I have stated numerous times, we MUST work together and start allowing the younger generation to advance forward and help lead the SCV with new ideas, minds, and the ability to adapt. I look forward to possibly serving you as Oklahoma Division Commander.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and ask them.
